SOFEN is “soften” written truthfully like it is pronounced without the silent “t”.

SOFEN is an action to gaining strength by becoming gentle.

In the year of 2015, I designed and sewed the first SOFEN cushions for our new home.

It began with the need of having something simple but playful and versatile at the same time.  The idea of a classic cushion tailored in a different way and to fondly challenge its tradition was born: SOFEN gives a two-sided cushion an unexpected, multi-dimensional twist.

Years have passed, we are still enjoying the same cushions. They are much loved by us and our guests.

Now, they can come to you too.

These are the three ingredients I care the most about when it comes to quality.

I have spent the last twenty years working as an architect in the field of architecture and largely contemporary art. It is unquestionable for me to pursue and execute well balanced pieces between design aesthetic and the best workmanship.

Creating spaces that embrace beauty, elegance and comfort is my favourite practice.

I work with materials which have the best sustainable standards:

the fabrics are GOTS certified organic cotton; the tape and teeth of the zippers are made from 100% recycled post-consumer PET bottles, manufactured by a company which conforms with OEKO-TEX standard 100 and Global Recycled standard 4.0; there is good amount of feather to ensure the right fullness of the cushion and the feather fillings are produced fairly in response to animal and environmental welfare in Germany, , and is also certified with OEKO-TEX standard 100.

I work closely with tailors in Berlin who handmake the cushions for me and care about the quality as much as I do.
